I had carpet and I hated it. As the now proud owner of a houseful of laminate flooring, I can assure you it stands up to the test of time. It’s also tough enough to withstand the whims and wiles of my children and dogs. Laminate flooring is some tough stuff – and I love it.

Laminate Flooring Lasts

Carpet that is actually walked upon starts looking rather shabby after five years or so. Carpet in a house with shedding dogs and spilled sippy cups looks shabby in about five minutes. Sure carpet in the bedrooms makes sense and maybe in rooms of the house that are barely used, but in high traffic and high play areas, skip the carpet – it’s nothing but trouble.

Laminate flooring, however, will last for decades. It is designed for heavy foot traffic and doesn’t mat down or stain with tennis shoes, scooters and muddy dog paws. When accidents happen, you wipe them up in a matter of seconds and move on. There is no need to bring out heavy cleaners, spot treaters or steam machines to take care of a little grape juice. Wipe and go – perfect for almost every busy parent.

Laminate Flooring versus Kids and Pets

My kids are of the clumsy variety, and I like for them to have a soft place to fall. However, I’d also like that place to remain clean and stain-free throughout their childhood. Laminate flooring might not be the softest material available for flooring, but it has much more give than hardwood flooring or tile. My child might end up with a goose egg on his little head when he tries to fly off the back of the sofa, but he won’t need stitches. Plus any blood can be easily wiped away – not that there should be any.

Small dogs and dogs that don’t shed do well on carpet. But bring in a dog that sheds just a bit and instantly your carpet is the perfect home for dander and hair that can’t always be removed with even the most powerful vacuum cleaners. However, on a laminate floor, like my oak laminate flooring, all dog hair, dander, dust, and dirt accumulates on the surface making it simple to sweep up and away at the end of every day. Dust mopping takes seconds and your house will be fresh and ready to start another day of battle.

Laminate Flooring Isn’t All Roses

While I’ll sing the praises of laminate flooring to all who’ll listen, I’ll readily admit it’s not perfect. Sometimes the little taps of dog claws on my laminate flooring make me want to crawl out of my skin, but I might not have this particular problem if I bothered to trim my dog’s claws properly.

Also, because laminate flooring is a harder surface, it becomes uncomfortable to stand on after a longer period of time, especially in bare feet. There isn’t much cushion, although more than other flooring types, so your feet and back can take a beating if you stand around for more than an hour or two. House shoes with a bit of support or a thicker sole will help with this particular issue as well.

Hot laminators use heat to melt adhesive and laminate documents while cold laminators use pressure sensitive adhesive to laminate. However, choosing between hot and cold lamination can sometimes be difficult. Each type of laminating system has its own set of strengths and weakness. This article is designed to help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of each system so that you can compare the two and make an educated choice for your laminating needs. Here are five things to consider.

1. Supply Types: The variety of supplies available for a cold laminator vs. a hot laminator is substantial. Hot laminating pouches are available in dozens of different sizes. However, options for cold pouches are extremely limited. With this being said, cold-laminating rolls are available with the ability to laminate and apply adhesive, just apply adhesive or to laminate with matte adhesive. Well I have thought about them too, I was really close to getting into the business. But let me tell you one thing gumball machines is passive income, soda and snack machines are not.

If you want a job then by all means go and buy soda and snack machines.

If you want a very part time, work one day out of the month, very good extra income type of business then bulk vending is for you.

3. Once your machine is on location you are in business.

4. You can really make some good money.

Bad things about Gumball Machines

1. You will need a lot of machines to match soda and snack income.

2. Family and friends will laugh at you, until you start bringing in cash.

3. You will not be able to quit your job with 20 machines.

Good things about Gumball Machines

1. Only takes one day a month to service machines.

2. Any car will transport a bulk vending machine.

3. Cheap to start I have bought new machines for 50 dollars before.

4. Very hard to lose money even if you have no clue.

5. These machines will run on autopilot no problems.

6. No complaints no calls.

7. Machine only takes quarters no problems.

8. I could easily get out the business if I wanted to.

9. 4 minutes and under to service each machine.

But ever since Dish Network has jumped on the satellite Internet bandwagon, Dish Network is by far, the best company for your satellite needs as it overcomes DirecTV in a few points. The prices are lower, the service is great, and the quality of service has all made Dish network the best in the industry.

04 MarHow to Load Laminating Film on Your Laminator Without A Threading Card

If you are looking to load new laminating film onto your laminator and still have a little bit of film left, there is a way to use the remaining film to help you load new laminate onto your machine. This article describes how to use the existing film that is already loaded on your roll laminator in place of a laminating film threading card. This procedure requires your laminator to be hot and that the existing laminate be tacky or liquefied (be careful not to burn yourself on the heat rollers). Follow these instructions for replacing your film.

Preheat the laminator and remove the feed tray.
Cut the remaining top and bottom film webs between the supply rolls and heat rollers.
Raise the safety shield to the upright position.
Do not allow the adhesive side of the film to contact the heat or pull rollers. Liquefied or tacky adhesive deposited on heat rollers will require the rollers to be cleaned.
Remove the bottom film supply roll from the laminator and lower the bottom film guide.
Remove the bottom roll of laminating film by sliding the right to release it from the hex shaped brake hub. Loosen the locking screw on the left retaining collar of the film supply shaft and slide the collar off. Pull the shaft partially out of the film tube and then push it back in to knock out the left core. Pull out the shaft all the way out of the tube and remove the remaining core adapter.
Slide one core adapter into the right side of the new roll of film ensuring that the film will unroll properly (from the bottom). Slide the film shaft into the core adapter and tube from the right side. Place the other core adapter on the shaft protruding from the left side then replace the retaining collar. Tighten the locking screw.
Unroll enough film from the bottom roll of the film to slide under the bottom idler bar and tack to the existing film. Slide the bottom idler back into place and replace the supply roll shaft.
Replace the top supply roll and unroll enough film to tack to the existing roll of film.
Install the feed table and lower the safety shield.
Run the laminator on the slowest speed setting to begin pulling the laminate through the rollers.
Observe the film being pulled through the laminator to assure that the remaining existing film and the new film are advancing correctly. Any separation between the films will require stopping the motor immediately and correcting the situation.
Stop the laminator after the newly threaded film has completely exited the laminator.

This method for loading laminating film onto your laminator is an excellent choice if you don’t have a laminating threading card or want to save some time. However, it does take some practice and can be a little bit tough to get the hang of. Try it a few times on your laminator and you should be able to master this technique and save yourself some time when changing laminating film in the future.

03 MarWhat Causes Paper Jams in Copiers and Laser Printers and How to Fix Them

Some types of paper jams can be quickly and easily fixed without calling a technician. This article tells how to repair many types of paper jamming in laser printers and copiers.

When a copier or laser printer’s control panel declares, “paper jam” and there’s not a single piece of paper anywhere in the printer, you’re left wondering where’s the paper jam. After the machine commands a piece of paper to be sent from the paper tray it expects the paper to arrive at a sensor within a specific time. If the paper doesn’t arrive, the machine assumes it got jammed somewhere along the paper path, and it announces “paper jam.”

If you frequently have “paper jam” messages without any paper in the paper path, you’ve probably got a worn out or dirty pickup roller. The location of the pickup roller is usually directly above the paper tray, in the middle. Grab a flashlight and take a look at it. Feel it to see if there’s any texture left on it or if it’s all smooth and worn feeling. Try cleaning it first, with a slightly damp cloth, but don’t leave it wet.

If cleaning doesn’t help, replacement pickup rollers are usually easy to install (there are some exceptions) and are inexpensive.

Most HP LaserJets display the error code 13 for paper jams. In newer printers this is expanded to 13.0 or 13.1 or 13.2. The number after the decimal point refers to which sensor detected the jam. It starts with 0 at the paper pickup area, so a 13.0 message means the paper never arrived at the first sensor. The rest of the numbers are helpful if you know how many sensors your printer has and where they are. Printers usually have three or four sensors in their paper path, with the last one at paper exit, or at the fuser if there’s a straight path from the fuser to the exit. There’s usually one at every bend in the paper path.

If you get a paper jam at the same location every time you try to print, you’ve either got some sort of obstruction or you’ve got a bad sensor. Field technicians have a saying, “the leading edge points to the problem.” This means where the first edge of the first piece of paper stops is the area where the problem is located. The problem is either a bad sensor or some physical blockage of the paper path.

Older sensors are usually “flags,” pieces of plastic which get pushed down by the passing paper. Flags are designed to pivot and have springs. These can fail in many ways, but it’s not uncommon for a flag to just get stuck and it may need only gentle manipulation.

The other type of sensor is optical – the paper breaks a light beam. These sensors can be very small and very difficult to locate. Other than cleaning them, there’s not much you can do with an optical sensor. Time to call a tech.

It is typical for all printers and copiers to jam now and then. When a machine jams frequently you can use the above information to determine if calling a technician is necessary.

It includes features like a large 2.4 inch screen with a display resolution of 240 x 320, an ambient light detector, a 3.2 mega pixel camera and 40 MB internal memory.

This is recognized as Nokia’s latest attempt to extend the usability of a mobile phone. The large screen is not adequately complemented by the small keys. This calls for the need to exercise care; text messaging, in particular, becomes a slow process.

The 3.2 mega-pixel camera has video recording and playback facilities. The manufacturer claims that the Carl Zeiss lens, the optics flash, the autofocus mode and the shutter are all designed to insure clearer print quality outdoor pictures. The lens is protected by an active slide cover.

Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, 40 MB internal memory, Java, SMS, MMS messaging, polyphonic 3D ring tones, HTML internet browser and GPRS. Apart from MP3 audio playback, a talk time of 226 minutes and a standby time of 370 hours should please buyers.

The 40MB internal memory enables music playback; if you want more memory invest in a mini SD card.

A web browser, an Adobe PDF reader and Microsoft excel, word and power-point are major features available for viewing office documents. Apart from games, the features available include a voice recorder and a unit converter.

Nokia has turned a blind eye to some standard features (of the N73’s forebears) like graphical similes, auto-key lock and adjustable snooze time on the alarm. The stereo speakers need some fine tuning.

All said, this is a third generation smart phone that packs a host of features, which come at a premium price.
